Goldsmiths, University of London, is our national delivery partner. Renowned for its research and teaching and celebrated world-wide as a vibrant hub for creativity, arts and culture, Goldsmiths’ excellent learning programme offers a mixture of online and in-person sessions, networking and peer mentoring opportunities, as well as the core Artsmark development training. 

Goldsmiths’ expertise and experience in creative pedagogy and cultural placemaking drives Artsmark’s support and training on a national level, and supports Arts Council England’s ambition to ensure that all children and young people have access to arts and cultural education across the country.

Esther Sayers
Esther Sayers is Head of MA Arts and Learning at Goldsmiths, University of London. She developed her PhD research around inclusion in the arts. Her current enquiry into modes of participation, community building and peer to peer learning focusses on the cultural field of skateboarding, she co-founded City Mill Skate a new skate space built in 2022 on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. In 2015, she established ArtScapers with CCI, a unique public art education programme for the University of Cambridge. Esther was Curator for Young People’s Programmes, Tate Modern (2002 – 2011).

Henrietta Patience
Henrietta Patience is a lecturer in Art and Design Education teaching on the PGCE Secondary and Primary programmes at Goldsmiths University of London. Henrietta has taught Art and Design and Film Studies in Southeast London Secondary schools for over 20 years. She continues to support curriculum development in schools, is a GCSE exam moderator and develops education outreach with the Frank Bowling Studios. Sitting on the Association of Art History schools committee and the art and design expert panel for Oak National Academy. Her research interests are in sustainability, inclusion and aspiration towards creative pathways.

Oliver Briggs
Ollie is a justice driven artist educator, researcher and activist, the founder and CEO of Arts Education Exchange and an independent consultant. Ollie’s interests are framed by critical and anti-colonial praxis, institutional critique and relationality. He aims to disrupt status quo structures by creating spaces to reimagine and embody equitable, alternative futures, through community organising, alternative arts education and organisational development.

Terri Newman
Terri is an artist-teacher-researcher and PhD candidate within the Education Faculty at Goldsmiths. Their practice-based PhD considers how co-creation enables transformative experiences for young people from low-income and intersectional backgrounds.  Terri’s research emerges from practice and builds upon fifteen years of teaching and leading in both inner city and rural schools in England.

Selene Heath
Selene is an artist and educator with over 15 years of experience across arts, education and wellbeing sectors. Selene has worked with Virtual Schools as an Enrichment Facilitator supporting children in care and with organisations promoting photography and creative wellbeing. Her practice and research investigates Black cultural identity, environmental methodologies and analogue photography through decolonial and community-based frameworks, supporting inclusive and socially engaged approaches to arts education and creative practice.

Mila Stokingerova
Mila is an artist-educator and Head of Department in a secondary school in North West London. Her varied experience in arts, education and design has led to a practice that interacts with publics both on a personal, small scale level and with large multifaceted audiences. Mila’s independent practise focuses on the exploration of inclusive materials as a tool to create communities and the representation of embodiment to the world around us, informed by research based on new-materialist theories and feminist art framework.

Prof. Tara Page
Project Lead

Tara is a Professor of Pedagogy and Praxis, and leads the Goldsmiths partnership with Arts Council England, having designed the national Artsmark learning programme. With over 25 years in arts education, Tara is a researcher, artist and educator exploring how creative practices, places and materials can transform learning and empower inclusive, positive change with teachers, schools and communities.

Holly Burton 
Artsmark Senior Project Officer

Holly has a focus on the planning and management of the Artsmark learning programme. They create opportunities to develop the programme through partnership building, collaboration, and co-creation of resources and events. Holly is passionate about creating inclusive and meaningful creative learning opportunities for and with children and young people. They have run schools programmes in cultural organisations for over 10 years, including at the Young V&A, V&A and Crafts Council. 

Louisa Wright
Artsmark Project Officer 

Along with Lorrie, Louisa oversees the general administration of the Goldsmiths Artsmark learning programme; this includes organising sessions and supporting teachers on their Artsmark journey. She also looks after the Goldsmiths Artsmark Teachers’ Environment (GATE). Louisa is a strong advocate for the role the arts can play in empowering young people, and works to ensure that all young people can access and participate in quality creative and cultural opportunities.

Lorrie Stock
Artsmark Project Officer

Alongside Louisa, Lorrie oversees the general administration of the Goldsmiths Artsmark learning programme; including organising sessions and supporting teachers on their Artsmark journey. She also works closely on the Additional Learning Development Opportunities programme. Central to her work is a commitment to children and young people, she is a passionate advocate for the power of arts and culture in the lives of young people and has spent 15 years championing creative opportunities that inspire and empower young people, ensuring meaningful access to high-quality arts education.
